Frank Santo's first novel, The Birthparents (Tortoise Books), is the story of a social worker with questionable ethics and the whiff of white savior complex who takes it upon himself to 'make a difference' with a struggling young family in the Bronx. Chaos ensues.
In addition to The Birthparents, Frank has published several short stories, including "Opening my Heart to Genghis Khan" and "100 People in a Hot Tub," in the July 2023 issue of Stanchion Zine and the April 2023 online issue of Malarkey Books. While working as a caseworker in the Bronx, Frank also wrote a regular feature in the New York Daily News in which he documented things like his unsuccessful attempt to infiltrate an anarchist book club, which was apparently against the rules.
